wow , my opinion the guy should have been watching his child more and not allow him to put his finger in the cage and the child should have not been that close to the cage

PALM BEACH SHORES (CN) - A blue and gold macaw at a South Florida hotel bit off part of a toddler's finger and ate it, the parents say. After the giant bird "swooped from its perch" in its cage and bit off part of the proferred finger, it "returned to its perch, and proceeded to chew the amputated portion of [the] finger until it was entirely consumed," the Williams family says.
The family says the Palm Beach Shores Resort had not posted signs warning guests of the bird's propensity to bite.

Ok correct me if I;m wrong, but I have never heard of a Macaw eating human flesh?!!!

What in the world would possess a parent to allow a child to stick a finger in a cage containing a macaw? Although, I ask this question and I have seen parents lift children and hold them over open exhibits containing aquatic animals. People like that are in denial. He placed his child in danger and is directly responsible for what happened. Furthermore, I guarantee that this bird has nothing to do in that cage but sit there with people staring and gawking at it all hours of the day and night...how much do you want to bet that the bird has no toys. As for the consumption part....I doubt it.

Ever been to Florida and seen how parrots on display live their lives? You'd be disgusted.

I'm in agreement with Jim on this, the father is to blame plain and simple.

Ingrid- While I don't know of any Macaws that have ate human flesh, I do know of a Quaker that did. When the subject of my birds comes up at family gatherings this story is always told: Back a few years now one of my younger cousins move out here, he lived with us while he looked for a place of his own. We only had Sarge (B&G) and Nicky (Quaker) at the time and they roamed where ever they wanted in our apt. Everybody loved Nicky because he had a great personality, but he also would also bite you 9 times out 10. Well one night my cousin was playing with Nicky and Nicky walked up to his forearm and bit him. He came back with a little chunk of skin which he sat and ate and ummmed and asked "is it good?". My cousin has a little scar from where he took the chunk out, but if you ask him he will still tell you that Nicky is still his favorite bird I ever had. (He flew over the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago)

Exactly what I was thinking word for word. It sure wasn't the birds fault in any way shape or form.
